Mobile CNG could take gas pumps to mines, ports and heavy equipment

India is introducing mobile CNG refuelling units that can be brought directly to vehicles operating in mines, ports, rail yards, waterways and other sites with heavy equipment that are hard to relocate. By moving the gas pump to the fleet rather than requiring fixed stations, the initiative aims to eliminate a major infrastructure obstacle that has limited the shift from diesel to cleaner fuel in captive vehicle groups. This approach could enable broader adoption of CNG across a range of industrial and transport operations that previously relied on diesel power.
